How do I read a tournament bracket on Skirmz?
Understand tournament rounds, byes, waiting match slots and double elimination advancement, including the grand final reset.
A bracket shows which teams meet and where each result sends them next. It is a path through the event, not a list of all matches that are ready to play now.
Start with your team and round
Find your team name, then look at its opponent and the round. Later slots may still be waiting for the winner or loser of another match. An empty opponent slot is not necessarily a missing registration: a previous result may be needed before that matchup is known.
Before the tournament starts, a bracket preview can change as registration changes. The first start locks the accepted teams and seeding. Use the live event view for the current bracket rather than an old screenshot.
Byes and waiting matches
When the field does not fill a power-of-two bracket, some teams receive a bye and advance without playing that slot. A bye does not mean they won a game that needs a result report.
A known matchup may still be waiting for the organizer to launch the round or for another requirement to clear. Check the event's status before creating your own game. When your match opens, complete the check-in shown in Skirmz.
Single elimination
The winner advances; the losing team leaves the competition. For example, winning a quarterfinal puts your team into the semifinal slot connected to it. The final decides the tournament winner.
Double elimination
The first loss sends a team from the winners bracket into the losers bracket. Losing there eliminates it. The two bracket winners meet in the grand final. If the losers-bracket entrant wins that first final, the bracket can require a reset final: both teams then have one loss, so the next result settles the event.
Report the match, then check advancement
Play in the actual game and report the result through the Skirmz match room. Do not submit a result for an unplayed bye or a later-round placeholder. If a result is disputed, use the match review process; arguing in chat does not itself change a bracket result.
